Read her statement… "When Tommy was first convicted
for those offenses back in 1994, the ending of his prison sentence seemed like a lifetime away. But that possibility of 52
years soon turned into 24 years, which then turned into the reality of 14 years, and the day is quickly coming that I must
deal with his release. I guess the main question I have is … Will he try to carry out his death threat?
In one
way, Tommy has done me a favor. If he hadn’t beaten me so badly on that evening, I wouldn’t have left him. I’m so thankful
that while he’s been in prison, I’ve had the opportunity to live my life free of his abusive, controlling and jealous behavior.
Would I change any of it? ... Not for a minute!! Not only have I been able to live my life in peace and enjoy my
family, but I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people throughout my experiences with DV … The law enforcement
officers I've trained and those who've trained me, the strong women who’ve fought the same battles I have, and the teenagers
who now know the warning signs for violent behavior.
I'm not looking forward to this day … But it's almost here!
I guess it's just a matter of time…." Heather
