Heather and Her Fight Against Intimate Violence and Murder

          1983     - Heather (12 yrs old) meets Thomas "Tommy" Howard Price, Jr. (14 yrs old)
                               - The beginning signs of abuse appear, but no one recognizes them.
                                    - He shows undue concern for where she is and what she's doing.
                                         - At first, she believes this as “Him just caring,”  and it takes her years to realize that he was in fact, controlling. 

         1986     - During the summer, Heather babysat for my children. 

  8/26/1987     - From incident not related to their relationship, Tommy was convicted in Union County as a youthful offender of…
                           - (Attempted) Kidnapping/Abduction as a Felon, Class H.
                                - Released one year later from NC Dept of Corrections, Division of Prisons, for that offense.

      7/1989     - While she was pregnant, physical abuse began to surface.  He forcefully pushed her to the ground.  She forgave him.

    8/5/1989     - They married, after which they had two children.
                          - Shortly therafter, his drug use intensified … As did the verbal and physical abuse.

     9/7/1994    - The major incident that brought about "Her Story"
                           - Her struggle to see justice served began and continues to this day.

   2/16/1995   - He is convicted of…
                          - Assault With A Deadly Weapon With Intent to Commit Serious Bodily Injury.
                          - Assault With A Deadly Weapon.
                          - Kidnapping First Degree.
                               - North Carolina Department of Corrections Prison term of 24 yrs. begins.
                          - In late 1995, and while he is still in prison, the Death Threat (on Related Pictures page) arrives in her mail.

   2/14/1996   - The divorce from him that she has filed becomes final.

          1996   - While still in NC State Prison custody, Thomas H. Price, Jr is found guilty of "Mailing Threatening Communication" in Federal Court.
                            - Federal sentence of 5 yrs to run consecutive to State sentence of 24 yrs. 

       5/1998   - Heather remarries.

          1998   - Tommy mails birthday card (appears to be subtle threat to Heather & family) from prison to his 8 yr old daughter.

      11/2004   - Tommy is transferred from NC Dept of Corrections to Federal custody.
                           - Bennettsville Federal Correctional Institution, 696 Muckerman Road, Bennettsville, SC 29512.
                                 - Projected release date of Apr 29, 2009 is set.

      11/2005   - I began writing my story about Heather.  A friend found her and made contact arrangements.
                            - She & I spent endless hours communicating as she filled me in on details and told me her story.

       5/2006   - Letter from Tommy to their two daughters arrives in Heather's mailbox (How did he get their address?)
                            - Heather opens it, reads it, then shows it to daughters...
                                 - He asks daughters to contact him behind Heather's back.

       6/2006   - By letter, Heather asks to meet with him in prison (she'd like to bring a female friend along too.)
                            - Tommy denies request of bringing friend ... She must come by herself.
                                 - End of contact.
